I do like Christmas, but the one thing that can make it stressful is the whole getting the perfect Christmas gift for everyone thing. I admit, that I have kinda bullied all my friends into creating Amazon Wish Lists. What I love about Amazon Wish Lists are that you can add items from other websites that you are lusting over and all your friends and family can choose that film you have always wanted, from Amazon, a great pair of boots from Kurt Geiger and that bag from Reiss you were drooling over . . . Maybe that’s just me. But if you’re stuck for great ideas about what to get everyone for Christmas, hopefully this little post can help;
What to get for him?
Christmas in one of those times that I kinda feel sorry for men. Only because, women tend to not have any idea what to get them . . . other than Calvin Klein underwear and some random socks. I don’t know about you, but I would not be impressed if my other half kept on buying me the same underwear for all my birthday and Christmases.
If you can’t afford that brand new and very expensive games console that he has saved as his screen saver. Maybe get your man clothing. Put down that box of undies, instead think about getting an amazing jumper or a great pair of shoes or trainer (men love their footwear almost as much as women). Accessories like cufflinks, a beautiful watch (I’m surprised by how many of the men that I have worked with are obsessed with watches).
Gifts to get for Her?
Women are always giving little hints of what they want for Christmas, all you have to do is listen . . . If you haven’t been listening over the past year. Things to avoid are; any kind of domestic appliance (this doesn’t count if she is really in to Bake Off) clothes that are too big, too small or something you really know she would never wear, let’s just put anything Lycra into that mix. A dvd of a film that you would really love, a non-scented candle. Instead of those huge misjudgements, try the very obvious last minute gift that will save you . . . a very expensive perfume, which she actually will like. A Bag, you can’t go wrong with a designer bag and no I don’t mean Juice Couture! Think more DKNY, it’s not too expensive to make you broke till next Christmas. If she is a Bake Off fan, don’t get pans! Think more a book from a favourite chef and that very expensive mixer that she has her eyes. There has been a massive rise in sewing and craft, take advantage of this by getting a sewing machine.
What to get the kids?
One of friends from work wanted to get his 2 year old daughter an Ipad, I had to remind him that his Mrs would actually kill him! He got her an Ipod instead. If you don’t really want to be as extravagant with your little ones, toys of their current favourite characters are easy to find. For kids, you just can’t go wrong, they find the wrapping paper entertaining. I plan on getting my god daughter something Pepper Pig themed, some cute clothes and a couple of Disney films that she won’t even notice till she is a little older, but films that the grown-ups will have a great time watching.
